Youth Support Worker

Position Summary
The Youth Support Worker is responsible for providing programming to youth in care between the ages of 13-21, which is designed to facilitate their successful integration within the community. The programming will consist of planning, coordinating and delivering services geared to address the individual physical, emotional, social, cultural and intellectual needs of youth.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Be familiar with and provide services in compliance with relevant legislation, ministry regulations and standards, and agency policies and procedures.
- Complete documentation in accordance with prescribed agency, ministry and legal standards.
- Demonstrated skills in counselling and training.
- Thorough knowledge of community resources available.
- Demonstrated excellent inter-personal communications skills; particularly with adolescents.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient in computer software applications including MS Office, and database programs.
Qualifications:
- An awareness of First Nations issues, including knowledge of the communities, family structure, customs and traditions, is an asset.
- Diploma in Social Work or related field.
- Two to three years’ experience working with adolescents and families.
Required:
- Must possess a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and minimum of $1000 000.00 Liability
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check, Internal Records Check, and Driver’s Abstract
- The ability to work flexible hours. Occasional travel within the region is also required.
