Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Services – Health Promotion and Prevention, the Youth Wellness Hub Manager shall deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed service coordination, supervision, and administration for the Kenora Youth Wellness Hub. This position includes managing services offered by the ‘Youth Wellness Team’, data and financial reporting, ongoing coordination of integrated services and engagement with youth, families, community stakeholders, and YWHO’s Project Team. These services will be delivered within the policy guidelines of Kenora Chiefs Advisory and the mandate outlined by the Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) Service Agreement. The Manager will work within the management team at Kenora Chiefs Advisory to help deliver and improve mental health and addictions services.

 

The Youth Wellness Hub (YWH) offers timely access to a variety of integrated services, with an emphasis on mental health and substance use. The Youth Wellness Hub is supported by a network of organizational partners, as well as a Youth Advisory Council. The YWH aims to increase access by reducing barriers and co-creating its programs and services with youth.

Salary:                              $ 70,000-$75,000 Per Annum

Location:                         Youth Wellness Hub, 120 Main St., Kenora, Ontario

Reports to:                      Director of Services – Health Promotion and Prevention

Responsibilities

Ø  Plan, develop and implement the Youth Wellness Hub’s clinical, community, drop-in and outreach services in a way that promotes barrier-free access and is engaging for youth ages 12-25.

Ø  Support the Youth Wellness Team through a clinical supervision model that includes regular team meetings, debriefing and involvement in critical situations.

Ø  When required, provide clinical intervention to youth, including crisis.

Ø  Engage with service delivery partners in developing and maintaining a schedule for the Hub – with an eye to offering a diverse range of supports that promote overall wellness of youth.

Ø  Ensure that the YWH will be a space for all youth identifying from a variety of backgrounds – with special focus on the program’s priority populations and those who may experience barriers to accessing services at the YWH.

Ø  Work with the YWHO Project Team to ensure adherence to the YWHO model’s core components.

Ø  Promote both Anishinaabe & mainstream approaches to healing & helping.

Monitoring & Quality Assurance

Ø  Collect, maintain, and report service data to the YWHO Project Team and Partnership Committee, as required.

Ø  Ensure consistency amongst staff/service providers in carrying out intake and oversee data collection processes.

Ø  Contribute to the evaluation of service with respect to its effectiveness in meeting the community needs and achieving the YWHO core components.

Ø  Fulfill financial reporting requirements of program budgets and grants, in collaboration with KCA Leadership and Finance.

Staff Supervision

Ø  Assisting with the interviewing and hiring of new staff.

Ø  Monitoring and evaluation of staff performance.

Ø  Supporting professional development of staff.

Ø  Ensuring staff adherence to both KCA and the YWH’s policies and procedures.

Ø  Providing clinical supervision through team meetings, debriefing and involvement in critical situations.

Qualifications

Ø  Clinical experience in counselling children, youth and/or families in the area of mental health and addictions.

Ø  Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (Psychology or Social Work preferred) and in good standing with the designated regulating professional college (OCSWSSW,  CRPO)

Ø  3+ years of counselling experience, community development, management, and/or youth engagement.

Ø  Experience in managing staff and providing leadership.

Ø  Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written & oral).

Ø  Ability to effectively respond to crisis and post-crisis situations.

Ø  Commitment to participating and learning about Anishinaabe culture, and experience working in/with First Nation communities is an asset.

 

Position Requirements

Ø   Valid driver’s license and vehicle, with a clean driver’s abstract.

Ø   CPR Certified, or willingness to be certified.

Ø   ASIST/ASK Certified, or willingness to be certified.

Ø   Willingness to work evenings and weekends (when required).

Ø   Willingness to travel (when required).

Ø   Vulnerable Sector Check (CPIC).

Ø   Understanding of the Anishinaabe language (Ojibway) is considered an asset.
