JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer this position is responsible for the development and administration of existing community impact and capacity building initiatives that the United Way is involved in and provides leadership and guidance in the process of determining future work.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Planning, Implementation and Analysis – Community Impact and Investment Work:

Community Impact:

  • Support implementation of the United Way Community Impact Plan and contribute to development of United Way leadership as a community builder, convener and collective impact facilitator
  • Create effective working relationships within the community and develop key partnerships with organizations and institutions to achieve outcomes
  • Assist in obtaining funding, as required, for Community Impact and initiatives
  • Ensure all administrative and evaluation requirements of the work are fulfilled, including service delivery agreements with funded partners
  • Facilitate and provide leadership and co-ordination to impact strategies and initiatives
  • Lead, facilitate and support ongoing development of Funded Partners to increase community connection and collaboration to maximize community impact
  • Represent United Way on community committees and planning tables related to the Community Impact goals of the organization

Community Investment:

  • Support the United Way Community Investment processes by planning and implementing activities for meetings and volunteer recruitment for the Community Investment review panel members in leading effective funding distribution from the Community Fund and other funding sources
  • Manage the web-based application system and provide linkage and support to organizations applying for funding, and research new funding applications
  • Ensure all administrative and evaluation requirements of the work are fulfilled, including service delivery agreements with funded partners
  • Assist with the development of policies, processes and procedures relating to the community investment and allocations processes
  • Assist with the review.  Monitor, and make revisions as necessary to the Community Investment model to ensure effective delivery of fund distribution
  • Report on the outcomes realized from community investments
  • Provide staff support to the Community Investment Review Panels

Communications:

  • Communicate effectively with Community Partners
  • Communicate verbally and in written format United Way messaging as it relates to United Way impact and outcomes in our partnerships in community initiatives and the Community Investment process
  • Act as a resource to the communications team in developing impact messaging
  • Provide learning opportunities to United Way Board, staff, volunteers and the community about community impact building and the outcomes of the work
  • Work with applicable staff and volunteers in the design, preparation and circulation of impact and Community Investment reports.
  • Work with C.E.O. and Director of Finance and Operations in the development of payment schedules for allocation allotments

Other:

  • Provide guidance and support for interns, students and volunteers as required
  • Acquire, maintain knowledge and use of the information management software system to fulfill responsibilities of position
  • Updates skills regularly to enhance knowledge and best practices to fulfill responsibilities of position
  • Participate and contribute to the work of the United Way of Canada, and the initiatives of other local United Ways
  • Maintain manual of current position
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and/or appropriate experience
  • Advance knowledge of appropriate computer technology
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Possesses experience and an understanding of community building principles
  • Use of a vehicle and valid driver’s license

Other Considerations:

  • Candidate must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Candidate must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 upon acceptance of employment
  • Candidate must provide a clear criminal records check upon acceptance of employment
