Veterinary Clinic Assistant

Trans Canada Pet Clinic is looking to add a veterinary clinic assistant to our dynamic team! We are a single veterinarian practice that specializes in small animal and equine medicine and serve clients all over Northwestern Ontario. We are looking for a dedicated staff to help keep the clinic organized and clean and to help provide the best care for our patients. This position will also provide support to the veterinarian and other clinic staff in day-to-day tasks and provide coverage to the reception desk as needed. This position will be a great way to get experience in a veterinary clinic setting and there will be opportunities to grow and expand your role in the clinic based on skill and interest.

Job Duties:

• General housekeeping (vacuuming, mopping, laundry, collecting trash, disinfecting surfaces, etc.)
• Cleaning and sanitizing of kennels, operating room, exam rooms, cages, surgical equipment, and bathroom
• Assisting with animal care (feeding, walking, bathing/grooming, medicating, and restraining for exams)
• Covering the reception desk as needed (answering phones, assisting clients, and taking payments)
• Opportunities to assist with medical procedures and lab work

Skills/ Qualifications:

• Committed and reliable
• Trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information and tasks
• Fluent with word processing software and common computer/ web platforms (email, scanning, online storage, etc.)
• Team player and can take independent initiative
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Previous experience in a veterinary/ dental/ medical clinic environment considered an asset
• Ability to lift 50+lbs

Terms of Employment:

• Part-time hours. You must be willing to work evenings and weekends and provide after-hours care to in-patients and boarders
