The Sister Margaret Smith Centre is a Regional provider of client-centered care including addiction programs that offer education, prevention, live-in and outpatient services for individuals with problematic substance use and/or gambling.

The Sister Margaret Smith Centre is currently accepting applications for a full-time Supervisor position within Addiction Serivces, focusing on the Youth Addiction Treatment Program. The Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the various services and teams and providing clinical supervision for multi-disciplinary staff. The Supervisor represents the program in system and community planning activities in collaboration with partner agencies. This position requires excellent leadership, team-building and communication skills, as well as current expertise in substance abuse theory, child and adolescent development, children’s mental health and systems theory.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
– Minimum Undergraduate degree in Social Work or equivalent
– Current registration with a professional college or professional regulatory body
– Specialized training as related to the field is preferred
– Significant clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions and experience working with community partnerships
– Demonstrated experience at a supervisory level for both live-in and outpatient programs, including therapeutic counselling with crisis management is required

– Demonstrated leadership, supervision/management, and problem-solving skills
– Excellent interpersonal communication and team-building skills
– Demonstrated use of initiative, flexibility and effective adaptation to change
– Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision-making
– Excellent computer and organizational skills
– Knowledge of relevant legislation (Health Care Consent Act, Occupational Health and Safety)

Assets:

– Experience working within a unionized environment a desirable asset

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must maintain registration of Professional College in good standing
  • Ability to work irregular hours
  • Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
