Sioux Lookout Supportive Housing Program:

FULL-TIME COOK

First Step Women’s Shelter is seeking a full- time Cook.  The Cook will be responsible provide nutritious and healthy meals to the tenants living at the Sioux Lookout Supportive Housing Program.

SALARY:   $26.12 per hour – Full Benefit Package & Pension Plan

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         To prepare nutritious and healthy meals which includes breakfast, lunch and supper following Canada’s Food Guide.

·         To place the grocery order of what is required once per week

·         Ensure that all areas of the kitchen are clean and sanitized according to Health regulations

·         Always ensure proper handling of food, cleanliness, and organization

·         Maintain proper timelines when preparing meals for service

·         Works harmoniously and cooperatively with all other staff, communicates openly and clearly

·         Communicate to staff if assistance is required in any of the above.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         High School Diploma

·         Preference will be given to applicants who have worked and or have experience cooking.

·         Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with tenants and staff and work as an effective team player.

·         Demonstrates an understanding of the Mission, Vision and Value statements of the organization

·         Must have access to own vehicle for use at work.

·         Must possess a current and clear Criminal Records Check.

·         Applicants must have or willing to obtain the safe food handler certificate or similar certification in cooking.

·         Preference will be given to applicants that have an awareness of Indigenous food and culture.
