Rehab Assistant (ECU) (05-25)

Job Summary:

The Rehabilitation Assistant will assist in the provision of clinical care and education to clients by delivering treatment interventions for coping with limitations in movement, daily functioning and activity.

Qualifications:

• A certificate or diploma as a Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant (PTA/OTA), or an equivalent credential in physical rehabilitation (e.g., Kinesiology or a related discipline) required.
• Previous experience working with clients in a health care facility preferred
• Basic computer knowledge/skills required.
•  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team environment.
• Willingness to participate in patient and staff professional development to keep knowledge and skill current.

Job Duties:

•  Workload includes client care for all designated patients at the William A George Extended Care Facility
•  Assists and supports the work of the rehabilitation team for the treatment, education and management of patients.
• Delivery of exercise and modality interventions under the guidance of Physiotherapists
•  Maintains equipment, treatment areas, office and supplies.
• Clerical duties as required.
• Participate in and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Responsible to compile statistical reports and maintain workload data.
• Participate in and contribute to staff education programs within the William A George Extended Care Facility, including fire and disaster plans, infection control, health and safety and any future programs.
