Assistant Event Coordinator and Communications Officer

We are seeking a full time Event Coordinator and Communications Officer for a 11 – week period position in Sioux Lookout, Ontario

This position is ideal for those seeking to build firsthand experience in media and public relations, community engagement, and event planning.

The Event Coordinator and Communications Officer will be an active member of the Travel Information Centre and the Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival team. Roll up your sleeves and be ready to do press releases, media relations, social media communications, event planning and impact monitoring. Participate in community engagement, work with volunteers, attend meetings and welcome the public to our Town.

Some of your duties will include:

Update all contact lists and keep up to date on events happening in the Sioux Lookout area.

Market summer events including the Blueberry Festival.

Work with local volunteer groups.

Make posters/posts to be advertised on all our social media platforms.

Answer the phone, check emails, greet customers.

Help plan events during the summer months and especially for the Blueberry Festival.

Tuesday to Saturday:  1000am to 600pm   Wage: $18.00/hour (negotiable with qualifications)
