Position Summary:

The Associate Nursing Program Manager (ANPM) provides technical provisions to the Nursing Program Manager. The ANPM identifies/coordinates/facilitates and/or develop staff training sessions. Promotes the success of Nursing Program delivery in remote and isolated communities. Contribute to the day-to-day activities of Nursing services at Shibogama First Nations Council. Advocates and represents Shibogama and member communities at Stakeholders and Partner consultations. Support all Health projects and programs contributing to organizational planning processes and success. Continuous Quality improvement to Nursing Service Delivery in remote and isolated communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Completes data collection and data entry for the purpose of reporting and trend analysis.
  • Prepares presentations, spreadsheets, correspondence, and data base entry.
  • Documents all unusual reports, ensures timely follow-up on Occupational Health & Safety concerns, security threats.
  • Implements practical communication systems and health information management systems to ensure essential health information is provided to the Shibogama health council and communities.
  • Act as a liaison between the Nursing Program Manager and Community Health Nurses, Partners, Stakeholders, Community Health Directors, and Leadership.
  • Create staff and applicant information materials, including website updates, newsletters, etc.
  • Review and distribute Nursing related information from the ISC_FNHIB One-Health Website.
  • Coordinate and present updates and presentations on new and best practices initiative.
  • Work to improve processes for the successful recruitment and retention of Qualified Community Health Nurses.
  • Manages the scheduling of Nursing candidate interviews in coordination with Community Health Directors.
  • Schedules and assists in the preparation of interview documents, screening documents, and testing materials.
  • Supports the Nursing program in monitoring staff performance and training exercises.
  • Participation in the coordination of training initiatives such as ISC Orientation. Assists in the development of Community Based Orientation and Sioux Lookout Partner Orientation sessions (SLFNHA, SL_MYW-HC< ORNGW, Shibogama Programs, KO Tribal Council).
  • In the absence of the Nursing Program Manager fulfills essential services to meet the needs of Nursing Programs.
  • Promote a positive, healthy, and safe environment for the nursing team.
  • Supports risk management for the program, financial management of program budgets, ensuring continuity of service delivery that is efficient and effective.
  • Building relationships and engage effectively with partners internally and externally.
  • Participate in the work planning exercises that address recruitment and retention issues, ensuring that the overall workforce plan is aligned member community health priorities.
  • Provide leadership and expert advice on staffing, skill mix, and care delivery approached through inter-professional collaborative practice, promote patient safety, evidence-based practices, improved access to care, and efficient flow of patients across the continuum of care.
  • Participate in collaborative service delivery between the Shibogama Enhanced Nursing Program and Community Based Home & Community Care Programs.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized Post Secondary Institution with a Diploma or Degree in a Health related field (Health Administration, Human Ecology/Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Addictions, Mental Health, Nursing Services). An acceptable combination of Education and Experience may be required.
  • Good working knowledge in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Data Base Operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with co-workers, communities and candidates.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to travel to remote and isolated member communities and job fairs in urban areas.
  • Member of an Eligible Member of the Certified Nurses Association of Ontario.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in one of the dialects of the Treaty 5 and 9 Territories.
  • Person of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Social Determinants of Health in First Nation Remote and Isolated Communities.

 

Salary Range: $71,000 – $78,000 plus benefits
