Job Summary:
The Physician Services Manager will be responsible for the overall administrative leadership and
management of the administrative delivery of regional physician services for the management and
mainframe agreements. The goal of the position is to ensure physician administration that supports the
delivery of high quality and timely regional physician services.
The Physician Services Manager will work in partnership with the Physician Services Director, SLFNHA
Executive and Medical Director, SLRPSI Board, Community Leadership, physicians and other key
stakeholders
The Physician Services Manager is directly accountable to the Physician Services Director.
Qualifications:
• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
• Bachelor or Master of Health Administration or Business Administration
• Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience within a health affiliated organization
• Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations;
knowledge of First Nations’ people, history, culture, health priorities and social issues
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal/written and computer communication skills
• Experience in people management, program development, governance, budget, resource
management, and organizational skills
• Experience in Human Resource Management, recruitment/retention of physician and
administrative personnel, workplan development, interviewing, hiring and
• Knowledge of employment legislation and compensation practices.
• Experiencing in management of funding agreements, obligations, legislation and accountability
reporting
• Experience with budget management and fulfilling reporting obligations
• Exceptional computer experience including spreadsheets/database management, word processing
and emails.
• Exceptional organizational & multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work with deadlines and changing priorities.
• Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem
solving expertise.
• Ability to communicate in one of the First Nation dialects of the Sioux Lookout region would be
an asset
• Valid Ontario G drivers licence
• Ability to perform duties of the role on a regular basis
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the negotiation, preparation, implementation, and monitoring of physician and PSPO
contracts.
2. Ensure appropriate governance and management agreements are in place for the delivery of
physician services.
3. Oversee the maintenance and implementation of SLRPSI Board Physician policies & procedures,
governance, bylaws, etc
4. Ensure appropriate delivery of the Mainframe agreement and contribute to Mainframe
renegotiation work.
5. Support the SLRPSI Board Strategic plan, vision, mission and values of regional physician services
for the area.
6. Participate in the establishment of the annual per diem budget.
7. Provide statistical information and reports to Physician Services Director and SLRPSI Board and
SLFNHA Executive. (PSP Monthly Report and Annual FTE Allocations)
8. To establish and monitor the system that tracks reporting requirements. (Physician Quarterly
Reports)
9. Establish Quality Assurance and monitoring along with the SLFNHA/SLRPSI Medical Director,
Director, Physician Services and Governance Committee.
10. Prepare required reports in collaboration with Finance and ensure timely submissions to meet
deadlines.
11. Monitor and provide reporting on the invoicing requirements of the physician agreements.
12. Oversee and ensure preparation and timely submission of all required reports/forms for physician
compensation monthly and annually. (Physician Tracking Days and MOH Summary)
13. Oversee OHIP billing obligations and compensation distribution while ensuring submissions are
within the 3 months.
14. Review and update the physician’s group billing registration (B500) to ensure accuracy of changes
in contract or locum statuses.
15. Supervisor of identified positions within the areas of physician contracts and scheduling, OHIP
billing, and physician accommodations.(Participate and be available for after-hours scheduling
rotation)
16. Serve as member on various physician committees (i.e. Per Diem Working Group, NPC Working
Group, SLMHC ER Dept Head/COS meetings, etc) and assist with planning for physician services.
17. Liaison with communities and other organizations ie. MOH, HFO, OMA.
18. Ensure completion of annual physician services plan in collaboration/consultation with Director.
19. Assist in preparing the Annual Board report for SLFNHA.
20. Assist in preparing and attend and/or present the annual report for SLRPSI Board AGM.
21. Communication effectively with communities and physicians.
22. Support program development activities as required.
23. Other duties as assigned.
