Job Summary:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, and maintaining payroll systems. This position involves auditing payroll data, coordinating with HR and Finance departments, and addressing employee inquiries related to payroll. The role also involves preparing payroll reports and contributing to continuous process improvement.
Qualifications:
•Proficient in, or able to demonstrate the ability to learn the skill(s), in the following areas: soundgrasp of payroll administration, accrual accounting and general bookkeeping
•Able to read, interpret and apply personnel and payroll policies
•Able to read, interpret and apply government remittance and reporting requirements
•Working knowledge of computerized payroll system (UKG) or willing to learn
•Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing, web-based financial applications, and email at a highly proficient level
•Highly effective organization skills combined with excellent time management and stressmanagement
•Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills
•Strong interpersonal and team building
•Must maintain strict confidentiality and must be honest, trustworthy, respectful, and flexible withsound work ethics
Roles and Responsibilities:
1.Payroll Processing
•Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policiesand government regulations
•Review and validate timesheets, and other payroll-related documents for accuracy andcompleteness
•Calculate and process adjustments, terminations, and retroactive payments as needed
2.Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
•Ensure payroll is compliant with all federal and provincial regulations, including the EmploymentStandards Act, CRA requirements, and other applicable laws
•Prepare and submit payroll-related government filings, such as ROEs, T4s, and other tax forms
•Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws and regulations, advising management on necessaryadjustments
3.Reconciliation and Reporting
•Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for Finance, HR, and Management
•Ensure accurate general ledger postings and conduct monthly reconciliations for payroll accounts
•Assist in preparing financial audits and internal payroll audits
4.Employee Inquiries and Issue Resolution
•Address employee questions and concerns related to payroll, deductions, and tax withholding
•Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll data and provide support for payroll-relatedinquiries
•Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to resolve complex issues
