Are you skilled in inventory control, specialized equipment maintenance, and warehouse management? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you at our Thunder Bay warehouse! You’ll play a vital role in storing, tracking, and maintaining firefighting equipment and vehicles, ensuring our team is always ready to respond.

Note: This position requires working in a warehouse and office setting and requires the use of handcarts, dollies, and forklift operations to move products.

Occasional travel is required to transport fire protection equipment and fire trucks.

What can I expect to do in this role?
• Maintain, track, and distribute inventory
• Purchase, receive, and inspect safety equipment for defects
• Distribute safety materials
• Make or arrange equipment maintenance and repairs
• Track condition of equipment
• Prepare, deliver, and maintain vehicles

How do I qualify?
Mandatory
You have a valid Ontario Class DZ License to operate fire trucks

Warehouse and Inventory Knowledge
• You have knowledge of warehouse principles and practices to ensure sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment and to set up and maintain inventory control systems
• You have general knowledge of purchasing practices and services agreements
• You are proficient with computers and can use data base systems in order to enter and update information, generate reports, and respond to inquiries

Technical Knowledge
• You have knowledge of a variety of firefighting equipment including the operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of fire pumps, hydraulics, various apparatus and vehicles, and protective clothing
• You have ability to acquire and apply knowledge of standards and codes regarding various equipment
• You have knowledge of legislation and standards related to the storage and handling of dangerous goods such as gasoline

Other Essential Skills
• You have analytical skills to ensure the adequacy and readiness of all equipment as well as determine the nature and extent of repairs and minor preventative maintenance
• You can carry out maintenance in a timely manner
• You have communication skills in order to provide technical guidance and advice to clients on the use of equipment as well as advise the supervisor of equipment abuse, damage, or need for user training
