Couchiching First Nation is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide culturally responsive, child- and family-centred services that support the functional development, independence, and well-being of children and youth.
This role is ideal for an Occupational Therapist who values meaningful community-based work, relationship-building, and practice rooted in respect, collaboration, and Anishinaabe values.
About the Role:
The Occupational Therapist will provide services that help children and youth build skills, increase independence, and participate more fully in daily life. This also includes completing functional assessments, developing individualized intervention plans, recommending environmental adaptations and assistive technologies, and supporting families, caregivers, and educators through education and collaboration.
The role also includes working closely with the Jordan’s Principle team and community partners, maintaining accurate documentation, and upholding ethical, culturally grounded practice. Flexible hours and participation in community events may be required to meet the needs of children and families.
What We’re Looking For:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- 1–3 years of pediatric OT experience in community or school-based settings.
- Experience in functional assessments, intervention planning, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience providing education to families, caregivers, and educators.
- Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of pediatric OT principles, child development, sensory processing, and assistive technologies.
- Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability to team goals.
- Ability to build respectful relationships with children, families, and partners.
- Ability to adapt interventions to diverse needs and respond to complex situations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
