NNEC is a non-profit educational organization. Under the direction of the Sioux Lookout District Chiefs, NNEC delivers secondary and post-secondary education programs and services for First Nations people. NNEC operates Pelican Falls First Nations High School, Pelican Falls Centre, Pelican Falls Wellness Centre, Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, Wahsa Distance Education Centre and has offices in Lac Seul (head office), Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. NNEC welcomes applications for the following position:

PFWC Wellness Centre Coordinator, Sioux Lookout ON

Pelican Falls Wellness Centre (PFWC) in Sioux Lookout requires a full-time Wellness Centre Coordinator to support the Wellness team and Manager of Wellbeing. PFWC is committed to providing high quality student-centered care by providing a respectful and inclusive safe home-like environment that reflects the student diversity it serves. PFWC works in conjunction with Pelican Falls First Nations High School and Pelican Falls Centre to provide wrap around services to students on-site. This position will have a modified work schedule through the school calendar (August to May) and the salary will be prorated over the full year (26 pay periods).

Responsibilities:

Process referrals and schedule appointments and tele-health appointments as required.
Collect, manage and maintain the data on the electronic medical records database – OSCAR
Answer the phone, direct phone calls, take messages as required
Check students in and out
Facilitate transportation for students as required
Assistance with planning, budgeting and reporting as requested
Maintain and order office supplies
Maintain communication processes with the Pelican Falls Centre staff, PFFNHS staff and Wellness Centre staff
Maintain a culturally safe environment for students
Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree/diploma in office administration preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge of First Nation culture, language and customs is preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills
Valid Class G Driver’s License
Excellent time management skills with the ability to ensure accuracy at all times
Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as within a team
Experience in mental health, and/or youth engagement is an asset
First Aid training, Mental Health First Aid and Naloxone training is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Experience with EMR programs an asset
The ability to speak Ojibwe/Oji-Cree is an asset
