CRISIS RESPONSE WORKER(S),

Pelican Falls Wellness Centre (PFWC), Sioux Lookout

Pelican Falls Wellness Centre (PFWC) in Sioux Lookout requires four (4) full-time Crisis Response Workers. PFWC is committed to providing high quality student-centered care by providing a respectful and inclusive safe home-like environment that reflects the student diversity it serves. PFWC works in conjunction with Pelican Falls First Nations High School and Pelican Falls Centre to provide wrap around services to students on-site.  This position will report to the PFWC Manager or designate and will have a modified work schedule through the school calendar, salary will be prorated over the full year (26 pay periods).

Responsibilities:
Support students that are dealing with mental health concerns, trauma, substance misuse, etc.
Respond to emergency and routine calls in a calm, efficient, empathetic and helpful manner.
Attend calls for assistance under the Crisis Response Services.
Assess the situation and contact emergency services if appropriate.  Use of clinical risk assessment is necessary.
In cases where a caller requires assistance, ensure that the appropriate help is summoned and that responses to emergency calls are in accordance with the NNEC crisis response performance standards and operating protocol.
Implement a plan of care and/or safety plan as required
Develop or assist in developing treatment plans for students
Use all available IT and information systems to manage emergencies, provide information and access to emergency services and act as advocate where appropriate.
Ensure that all records are maintained accurately and updated as necessary.
Deal with client inquiries effectively and efficiently.
Participate in regular job-related training and to extend and update knowledge as required.
Create and maintain a good working relationship with appropriate NNEC personnel, students, their families and partner organizations.
Carry out basic First Aid if required.
Following incidents to ensure interim follow-up
In the event of a serious occurrence, ensure requirements as established in policy and procedure are followed.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:

1.        Diploma in Social Work, Social Service Worker or related field an asset

2.        Minimum of 2 years experience working in a related field or with First Nation youth preferred

3.        Must have a Class “G” drivers license

4.        Must have First Aid with C.P.R. or willing to obtain

5.        Fluency in one of the Sioux Lookout area dialects an asset but not essential

6.        Knowledge of urban environment of Sioux Lookout

Salary:           Based on Education and Experience
