We are currently seeking to hire a regular, full-time Human Resources Coordinator located in Dryden, Ontario to join our Administration team.  Our employees enjoy a healthy work environment, professional development, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator is responsible for delivering efficient and effective HR services to support a positive workplace culture and collaborates with departments to achieve organizational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Performing various administrative duties essential to the operation of the Human Resources Department, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, leaves management administration and tracking, labour relations, employment legislation, policy writing, data entry, file maintenance and preparing correspondence.
  • Preparing job postings, arranging for posting and distribution of job vacancies, shortlisting applicants, scheduling and participating in interviews, developing interview questions and testing criteria, administering employment testing, conducting reference checks, notifying external applicants of the results of the selection process, and prepare offer letters and employment contracts.
  • Developing and fostering positive labour, employee, and management relationships by advising on labour and employee relations matters, policy and legislative compliance, and collective agreement interpretation and administration.
  • Providing guidance to address performance management issues, including preparing coaching and disciplinary letters and supporting managers to ensure performance management issues are appropriately documented.
  • Providing support with workforce planning initiatives associated with organizational growth and realignment as appropriate, including forecasting future needs in collaboration with departments.
  • Reporting and ongoing case management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and /or accidents.
  • Investigating, in collaboration with managers, complaints of workplace violence or harassment and other workplace matters, including performance issues.
  • Collaborating with the payroll department to ensure the correct application of policies, collective agreements and employment legislation.  Distribute payroll information regarding employees (i.e., offer letters, employment contracts, rate of pay adjustments) to the payroll department for input and processing.
  • Conducting regular research as part of ensuring the organization’s compliance with employment-related legislation.  Providing guidance and assistance to management and staff to ensure organization-wide compliance with policies, directives, collective agreements, and applicable legislation.
  • Maintaining human resources information and related records. Recommend, develop, and/or maintain human resources databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail, drafting forms, letters, reports, and memos, proofreading and editing correspondence, reports, proposals, job descriptions, and other documents.
  • Responding to internal and external Human Resources related inquiries from the management team, employees, outside organizations, and the public over the phone, electronically, and in person.  Refer inquiries to the appropriate individuals or departments across the organization.
  • Performing other HR functions as assigned.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations with people at all levels of the organization, along with external contacts. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain a variety of personnel and related records requiring confidentiality and security; ability to handle personal and sensitive information.
  • Strong communication, consulting, interviewing, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related legislation and the ability to understand and interpret policies, directives, collective agreements and other related documents and explain them to others, ensuring they understand and can then administer or apply them appropriately.
  • Must have an understanding of relevant legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).  Working knowledge of a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is beneficial.
  • The ability to motivate cooperation and mediate competing perspectives and interests as it relates to human resources matters.

QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Post-secondary diploma in or degree in Human Resources or similar from a recognized college or university.
  • CHRP/CHRL or other professional designation in HR is an asset.
  • Two (2) years’ related work experience in HR is required, with demonstrated experience providing guidance and advice regarding human resources matters.
  • Experience working within a non-union and unionized work environment is required.  Experience working in the municipal or public sector is an asset.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G (or equivalent) driver’s license in good standing and have the ability to rent a vehicle if needed.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Along with an excellent benefits package and participation in the OMERS pension plan, we offer a salary ranging from $74,905.69 – $85,956.00 per annum.
