Finance Officer- Payables (#181)

Are you passionate about providing accounting services to further the mission of IFNA? This role requires exceptional accounting knowledge, communication, mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The role will report to the Senior Finance Officer.

Responsibilities:
• Review, process, and pay supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and other supporting documents.
• Verify arithmetic accuracy, coding, and allocation of invoices and expenditures.
• Ensure source documentation is appended to entries.
• Reconcile supplier account statements and employee vendor accounts monthly.
• Prepare vendor and account analysis.
• Respond to payment inquiries from staff and suppliers within approved limits.
• Process employee advances, expense reimbursements, travel claims, honorariums, flow-through funding, student allowances, and recurring charges.
• Review and enter cheque/reimbursement/travel requisitions for accuracy, coding, and approvals.
• Prepare and post payment batch uploads (cheques and EFT).
• Participate in cross-training and job rotations within the finance department.

Position Requirements:
• Accounting diploma (or equivalent) required.
• 1 year of experience in a non-profit or First Nation finance environment preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Adagio preferred).
• Experience handling invoices, data processing, and payments, including supplier account reconciliation and HST/GST computation.
• Understanding of Indigenous history, traditions, and beliefs; ability to incorporate cultural values in service delivery. Ability to speak an Indigenous dialect is an asset.
• Familiarity with Indigenous communities and experience working for an Indigenous organization.
• Clear criminal record check.
• Strong computer skills, including accounting software, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Salary Range: $54,529 – $66,646/annually
Schedule: Regular hours from Monday to Friday with weekends, overtime and on-call availability.
