Position: Cashier – Full-time

Location: 79 Queen Street, Sioux Lookout, ON

Overview:

Fresh Market Foods is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, accurately process transactions, and maintain an organized front end.

 

Responsibilities:

Transaction Processing: 

• Ensure accurate scanning and weighing of all products.
• Use the POS system for transactions including debit, credit cards, American money, charges, and gift cards.
• Collect payments, apply coupons, process HST exemptions, and handle purchase orders.

 

Customer Service: 

• Answer customer questions and provide information on promotions and sales.
• Ensure self-scan tills are stocked and sanitized and resolve technical issues with support.
• Pack purchases safely for transport, separating items by freezer, cooler, and dry goods.

 

Front End Maintenance: 

• Use downtime to clean and tidy the front end
• Ensure till supplies are stocked (e.g., till paper, bags, pens).
• Stock front end products like chocolate bars, gum, candies, and beverages.

Knowledge and Compliance: 

• Stay informed about current promotions and sales.
• Understand and adhere to the Scanning Code of Practice.
• Know when to call the Order Desk for assistance (e.g., for non-conforming goods, deliveries).

 

 Qualifications and Skills: 

• High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Experience operating a POS system and handling cash transactions accurately an asset.
• Good organizational skills to pack groceries efficiently and maintain a tidy checkout area.
• Attention to detail to ensure all products are scanned and weighed accurately.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Terms of Employment: Full-time, including weekends and holidays

 

Wage/Salary: $16.55- $18.99 per/hour (depending on experience)
