Position Overview:

The Privacy Officer is accountable for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the privacy framework at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. This includes the management of policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with Ontario’s privacy and access-to-information legislation, including the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), and related statutes.

The Privacy Officer is a key role responsible for ensuring that all privacy and access-to-information practices are consistently followed across the organization. This includes leading policy and procedure development, compliance audits, risk assessments, and managing incidents and breach responses. The Privacy Officer will oversee training and awareness programs to educate staff on privacy obligations and foster a privacy-conscious culture. This role also includes managing access to information requests, providing consultation and advisory services to various departments, and preparing documentation and reports for senior leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in law, health information management, privacy law, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Certification as a Privacy Professional is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in privacy management, freedom of information compliance, or related roles, preferably within healthcare, mental health, and child welfare sectors in Ontario.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required in relation to service requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must have the ability to travel on a regular basis.
  • Must complete a criminal records check, satisfactory to Dilico.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
