PERMANENT FULL-TIME

PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER

 

The Township of Ignace is accepting applications for the Permanent Full-time Infrastructure and Public Works Manager. Hours of work are 40 hours per week, regularly from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Candidates must have the following minimum qualifications:

·         Post Secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering technology or related field with a C.E.T. designation or equivalent.

·         Certification of Ontario Roads Supervisors and all the courses that lead to gaining certification through the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA).

·         Five (5) years management/supervisory experience (unionized environment) with multiple years in field and equipment experience.

·         Knowledge of municipal operations including public works, waste management, land use planning, economic development and emergency services.

·         Must have a sound working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and its requirements.

·         Strategic thinking skills with the ability to manage the preparation of plans, policies, reports, budgets and studies.

·         Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed requirements of internal and external clients including project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills, and presentation skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to be a team-player, who is able to establish working relationships with the Leadership Team, Council, other employees and general public.

·         Previous physical labour and heavy equipment work experience would be an asset.

·         Candidates must have and maintain a valid Class “G” Driver’s License.

A sound working knowledge of computers and relevant software is highly desirable. Post-secondary diploma and/or certificates in a relevant field would be an asset.

Wage rate shall be negotiated in line with experience and current Township of Ignace policies.
