POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, provides meals and snacks, performs housekeeping and laundry duties, and assists with the care of children.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans and prepares meals and snacks in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and ensures that food supplies are maintained
  2. Ensures food supplies are maintained within the established budget
  3. Performs housekeeping and laundry duties
  4. Ensures that health and safety procedures are maintained
  5. Assists with the care of children
  6. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:   

Education/Experience:

  • Secondary school graduation; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of a safe food handling training course (Level 1)
  • Experience cooking and planning menus for large groups
  • Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide as it relates to the Child Care and Early Years Act

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to work with young children and their families
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Must have and maintain First Aid Certification
  • Must have and maintain an up-to-date record of immunization
  • Prior to commencing employment, must provide documentary evidence of having undergone a one-step tuberculosis skin test
