Apprenticeship Carpentry Instructor
1-year Contract
Background:

Position Summary: Reporting to the ISETS Manager, the Apprenticeship Carpentry Instructor is responsible for assisting in the creation, coordinating and delivery of Carpentry LVL 1 and 2 in remote communities as required. They will assist with hands-on training in tool and workplace safety as well as assist in small build projects. The position is a mix of in-office and remote work.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal applicant will have:
- Understanding of the Ontario Ministry of Colleges & Universities Carpentry Apprenticeship Program and its requirements
- 5+ years experience working in Carpentry or Construction
- Achieved Carpentry LVL 1, 2 and/or 3 or is a Carpenter Red Seal
- Strong leadership skills when working with adult learners
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good organization skills, client file management skills
- Knowledge of Indigenous Employment & Training
- Ability to speak and understand Ojibway/Oji-Cree/Cree is an asset
Applicants will also have excellent stress management skills, administration, government and First Nations; and hold a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain.
