Special Constable

Lac Seul Police Service is actively looking for a Special Constable to join our team.

Responsibilities:

·         Arrange prisoner transport, escort prisoners between various locations, and assume responsibility for offenders while they are on-site for court appearances.

·         Provide court security during court hours

·         Managing case files, assisting the crown and preparing/ensuring preparation and proper of all related information and documentation by uniformed officers.

·         Liaise with and responds to inquiries from Uniformed Officers, Crown Attorney’s office, defense counsel, accused persons, etc. from various agencies.

·         Answer general enquiries regarding court protocol

·         Maintain court-related records and files.

·         Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting Uniformed Officers with front line duties when required.

Qualifications:

·         Minimum 18 years of age

·         Must posses high school diploma or equivalent

·         Must have valid Class G driver’s license

·         No criminal record, good credit and background investigation

·         Must be of good moral character

·         Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

·         Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

·         Excellent written and communication skills

·         Valid First Aid/ CPR cerftication

·         Interacts with the public, external agencies and authorities in a positive manner

·         Knowledge and understanding of First Nation communities, language, culture, traditions

·         High sensitivity to Indigenous issues from past to present.

·         Must pass Special Constable Training or have a current Special Constable Appointment

Rate:            $76, 002.63
Term:           Full-Time Permanent
Hours:         40 hours per week
