Job Summary:
The Oral Health Project is the development, planning and implementation of a dental service program that will be administered by the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA). The dental program will support the development of First Nations-led solutions to health inequities experienced by people living in remote Sioux Lookout Area (SLA) communities, and more specifically, to improve community-based dental care by building the capacity of the community dental assistants.
Under the direction of the Oral Health Services Manager, the Oral Health Program Assistant is responsible for the coordination of administrative duties to support the Oral Health Project.
This is a term role ending April 10, 2026.

Qualifications:
• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
• Minimum High School Diploma or post-secondary education in a health services field or equivalent work experience deemed acceptable by management.
• Minimum experience of 1 year in administrative/executive/secretary support is an asset.
• Dental experience is an asset.
• Valid Ontario G driver’s license.
• Experience working with First Nations people, communities and leadership.
• Ability to speak in one of the First Nation dialects in the Sioux Lookout area is an asset.
• Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs is required.
• Excellent time management, communication, organization and planning skills; detail-oriented.
• Co-operative and self-directed; adaptable and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Perform a variety of manual tasks where physical coordination may be required. Lifting of supplies 20 – 30 lbs. may be required.
• The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate the program activities and schedule of the Oral Health Services Manager and Oral Health Team
• Answering and directing calls in a professional manner
• Design and prepare documents including letters, memorandums, work plans, reports, spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations, confidential correspondence, etc.
• Prepare HR paperwork for new hires, including the support and organization of onboarding
• Assist in the development of program activities
• Preparation of travel authorizations, travel preparations and expense claims
• Assist with purchasing, purchase orders and inventory
• Performing errands/ duties at various sites
• Perform routine clerical tasks such as copying, faxing, filing, general typing and data entry.
• Preparing meeting arrangements, agenda, supporting documents and meeting of minutes
• Maintain/update the office filing system, both paper, and electronic files.
• Perform physical demands of the job
• Participate in quality improvement.
• Adhere to confidentiality requirements/ policies
• Other duties as assigned.
