Youth-In-Transition Workers (YITW) support youth who are transitioning out of the child protection system. YITWs provide youth with education, support and advocacy for issues such as housing, life skills, employment, education, health and mental health services, legal services, human trafficking and victim support services. Youth are assisted with connections to existing supports and resources and navigating services relevant to their needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Child and Youth Care diploma or equivalent degree or diploma in a social service or other related field
• Registration with a relevant professional association as appropriate
• Experience engaging vulnerable youth through outreach services
• Sound knowledge of the child protection system in Ontario
• Proven ability to engage youth and develop sustainable professional relationships
• Experience liaising with a broad variety of community resources especially as they relate to housing and independent living skills
• Training and experience in crisis intervention, including assessing for and intervening with risk of harm to self and others
• Experience and skill in group development and group facilitation

SALARY RANGE:

$28.14– $33.42 per hour

Positions working a minimum of 20 hours per week are eligible for all benefits, including life, accident and critical illness insurance, extended health coverage, dental coverage, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off benefits (28 days per year at start of employment), and group retirement plan with 200% employer contribution.
