Lead Carpenter/Construction Laborers

Swift North Construction Services Inc. is an Indigenous owned general contracting company that is looking for highly skilled and experienced lead carpenter and construction laborers to assist with residential and commercial construction in fly-in, remote communities in Northern Ontario.

The position does require travel to and from remote communities and rotations can vary, standard rotation 2 weeks on, 1 week off. All flights, meal reimbursement, accommodations, tools etc. are provided. Wages are negotiable, based on experience and construction knowledge. We also offer bonuses and additional incentives.

Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled construction work on site
• Site preparation and clean up, digging trenches, removal of debris
• Load and unload materials
• Operate tools and light and heavy equipment
• Assisting all trades people and other labor contractors
• Foundation, framing, roofing, exterior and interior residential and commercial     construction
• Comply with all company, community and government safety and policy standards
• Travel to airport day of travel, be prepared for last minute flight confirmation, changes and cancellations
• Must have safety boots, proper construction clothing (safety and weather appropriate)
• Follow and report to foreman, management, office/human resource
• Physical demands: standing, bending, twisting, lifting, repetitive motions, walking, running
•  Work overtime hours, weekends

We want our future team member to have the following:

•  Years (1+) construction relevant experience
• Ability to work in physical environments, outdoors, all weather conditions, extreme temperatures
• Understanding and experience of working and living in an isolated, remote Indigenous community is an asset
• Experience operating light and heavy equipment
•  Natural leadership and initiative, ability to step in and support others with little to no direction, problem solver, strong communication skills, coordinate supplies, crews, equipment
• Education and Certifications: Including but not limited to, Working with Heights, WHMIS, First Aid, 4 Steps Training, equipment certification is an asset
