Job Summary 

The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is seeking a Patient Care Attendant (PCA) who will work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide safe, compassionate, and culturally respectful care to patients requiring long-term care support within an acute care setting.

Qualifications
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required
Experience working in healthcare, long-term care, or with seniors is considered an asset
Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Physically capable of performing all assigned duties, including frequent walking, patient transfers, repositioning, and lifting
Current CPR and First Aid certification is considered an asset
Ability to work all assigned shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays
Must be willing to work the current 12-hour shift rotation

Job Duties
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility, and comfort measures
Support patients with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation as directed by nursing staff
Observe and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team
Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment
Respond to patient call bells and requests in a timely manner
Assist with meal service and feeding support as required
Transport patients within the facility as directed
Support recreational and social activities that promote patient well-being
Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to support individualized care plans
Adhere to organizational policies, infection prevention and control practices, and workplace safety requirements

Salary: $25.41 – $27.48 per hour; as per CUPE Collective Agreement.
