The Biidaaban Healing Lodge is a 12-bed residential treatment program located on Biigtigong Nishnaabeg formerly known as Pic River First Nation, which is approximately 25 kilometers from Marathon, ON. We are mandated to provide quality treatment to all Indigenous and Metis people residing in the Robinson Superior area. We provide treatment for unresolved trauma stemming from sexual abuse, family violence, adult children of trauma, grief and abandonment and anger solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Working as a team member within the Biidaaban Healing Lodge and in conjunction with the First Nation communities in the area and under the direction of the Senior Counsellor, the Intake worker is responsible for:
- Review, upload and maintain client files into the data base.
- Schedule and conduct intake interviews to determine program suitability
- Deliver the Residential programs offered under the service agreement of Biidaaban Healing Lodge.
- Maintain up to date client files that track and evaluate client eligibility or referrals
- Be knowledgeable of and coordinate with community agencies and referral services (Indigenous or Non-Indigenous) to assist clients in meeting immediate and long-term goals.
- Schedule visits/calls with clients and follow through with case management.
- Work with various programs to promote a coordinated client service approach to ensure that needs are addressed.
- Identify gaps and needs to assist clients in attending programs and services offered.
- Respond to general inquiries regarding our programs purpose, processes and procedures and/or any other information being requested.
- Network and liaise with other programs and community agencies for the betterment of clients.
- Submit written reports outlining number of applicants, closed files, clients attended, referrals and other reports as required.
- Participate in case audits, compliance audits, program evaluations and any other specifically designed processes that may be undertaken to assess the effectiveness of the programs
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- An understanding of the issues that impact First Nation communities and the Anishinaabe way of life
- Experience working with First Nation’s individuals, families and communities, and a working knowledge of healing and recovery from Anishinaabek perspective.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication skills, a working knowledge of computer programs such as a word, excel, publisher, power point and outlook to develop pamphlets, posters and other promotional items
- An understanding of data entry systems would be an asset
- Degree in Social Work; Psychology or a related field of study is preferred or 3-5 years experience in related field (A combination of education and work experience will be considered.) We are willing to provide training to the right candidate
Salary: Wages will be negotiated commensurate with experience; we offer competitive wages and incentive package.
