General Labourer

The Opportunity

We’re looking for dependable and safety-focused Labourers to join our team in Thunder Bay. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various general labour tasks such as organizing materials, maintaining the yard, and assisting the workforce with other related duties. Your Day-to-Day

• Maintain the yard by removing trash, debris, and other waste material.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure all materials are properly secured.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, tractors, and power tools.
• Conduct inspections of yard equipment and tools and perform basic maintenance when required.
• Assist in the organization and storage of yard materials and supplies.
• Assist equipment operators, and other skilled labours when necessary.
• Responsible for following all safety protocols and procedures.
• Report any issues or damage in the yard to the supervisor immediately.
• Pressure washing and cleaning vehicles and equipment as required.
• Work in various weather conditions.
• Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday
• Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
• Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet project demands
• Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Perform other related duties as assigned

You Are a Good Fit If You Have

Required:

• Valid G Drivers License
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork

Considered an Asset:

• Prior concrete knowledge or experience in the construction industry
• High school diploma or equivalent

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.).
• Ability to perform physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
• Ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to collaborate on various job duties.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations.
• Ability to handle multiple on the go tasks and appropriately prioritize based on operational needs
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
• Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Professional attitude and strong work ethic

*This position is governed by a collective agreement. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
