FIREFLY is seeking a regular full time Communications Disorder Assistant (or Communication Assistant) to support Speech-Language Pathology services across our region. This role plays a key part in helping children and families access high-quality, coordinated care.

We provide community-based, mental health, and developmental services across Northwestern Ontario in partnership with families, schools, child care centres, and community organizations.
About the Role
As a Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) or Communication Assistant, you will work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services. You will implement therapy plans, support program delivery, and help create engaging materials for children, families and care providers. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will:
Support speech-language and/or hearing screening activities.
Administer treatment plans developed by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs).
Assist with client programming and provide informal documentation and reporting.
Prepare therapy materials, home programs, and resources for families and classrooms.
Support communication between clinicians, families, and community partners.
Participate in team meetings and training as required.
Travel within communities to support services in homes, schools, and community settings as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
Preferred: Diploma in Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) program.
Alternate Consideration: A related diploma/degree (e.g. Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences, Social Services, or equivalent) with relevant experience.
Experience working with children with communication or developmental needs is an asset.
Experience working in or with community-based programs is an asset.

Ability to follow structured treatment plans and work under clinical supervision
Strong organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Creativity in supporting child development and engagement
Sensitivity to the needs of children, families, and diverse communities
Cultural awareness, with understanding of First Nation communities is considered an asset
Strong documentation and computer skills
Flexibility to travel and work across settings
Conditions of Employment:
Valid Driver’s Licence and ability to travel within Northwestern Ontario
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
Ability to manage a reasonable workload with effective prioritization and follow-up

Ability to support a respectful and safe workplace

Some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time
