Contract Supervisor – Barrick Hemlo LSA

Position Profile

Reporting to the General Manager and Barrick’s Human Resources Manager, the Contract Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between PRDC contract staff and the Williams Mine. The Contract Supervisor is responsible for overseeing contract personnel while onsite, ensuring compliance with company policies and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate performance goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Ensure employee understanding of departmental workflows as well job specific tasks and responsibilities.
  • In collaboration with site supervisors, monitor productivity, give feedback, and provide coaching for improved performance.
  • Facilitate communication between staff and management.
  • Conduct evaluations and identify gaps, training and employee progression opportunities.
  • Manage contract employee onboarding, including orientation and drug/alcohol testing.
  • Ensure compliance with site and organizational policies and handle disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Oversee accurate timesheet and leave submissions via BambooHR.
  • Assist with hiring interviews and workplace investigations.
  • Complete disciplinary documentation and address staff concerns.
  • Maintain current training records and employee documentation.
  • Manage attendance, performance, grievances, and quality control in line with ESA.
  • Support communication between contract staff and Williams Mine personnel.
  • Participate and enforce in mine site health and safety and environmental programs while maintaining the site and legislative standards.
  • Promote hazard reporting and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Conduct site visits, inspect work areas, and ensure standards are met.
  • Keep a daily log of visits and follow up on identified issues.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in office/business administration and other related disciplines an asset, or a combination of education, training and previous employment in a related field.
  • Proven experience as a supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is advantageous.
  • OSSD Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities to effectively manage teams and resolve workplace challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Ability to assess performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement coaching strategies for employee development.
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution, disciplinary procedures, and corrective action processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet operational deadlines.
  • Understanding of workplace safety, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce company policies, industry regulations, and labor standards.
  • Proficiency in workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and critical thinking to address operational and personnel issues effectively.
  • Competency in using MS Office applications and HR management software for reporting and administrative tasks.
