Job Summary:
The Approaches to Community Wellbeing is a regional resource to 31 First Nations communities. The Approaches to Community Wellbeing provides expertise, support, services, and programming in community wellbeing (public health) to the region. The program also supports communities in the development, implementation, and monitoring of their own Approaches to Community Wellbeing.

The Community Wellbeing Nurse Specialist – Clinical Support will be responsible for providing clinical support and mentorship to the Community Wellbeing Nurses and Mobile Nurses. The position will also support the overall Approaches to Community Wellbeing as time allows.
The Community Wellbeing Nurse Specialist – Clinical Support will be accountable to the Community Wellbeing Nursing Manager.
This is a term position until March 31, 2025.

Qualifications:
• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
• Registered Nurse with College of Nurses in Ontario
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an approved University with identifiable community health nursing content
• Minimum 5 years of previous work experience in a field of community wellbeing (public health)
• Minimum 3 years of accumulated experience working in a remote First Nation community
• Masters in Public Health is an asset
• Valid Ontario G drivers licence
• Ability to perform the requirements of this role on a regular basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Support the orientation of new Community Wellbeing Nurses and Mobile Nurses working in the community
• Develop ongoing training requirements for Community Wellbeing Nurses and Mobile Nurses and maintain records of completion
• Set and define clinical standards for the nurses and program
• Ensure policies/procedure/processes are outlined, easy to follow, and updated.
• Work with Community Wellbeing Nurses to ensure adherence to clinical standards and policies and procedures
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to Community Wellbeing Nurses through regular check-ins and being accessible for follow-up
• Support Community Wellbeing Nurses and Mobile Nurses in meeting documentation standards, including within Mustimuhw Information Solutions (MIS)
• Act as a resource and mentor in community and provide training and ongoing mentorship to community-based workers and Wellbeing nurses with minimal experience.
• Connect Community Wellbeing Nurses with external resources to support them in their work by brining information forward about visiting professionals, training programs, programs or projects, and resources that could support community wellbeing.
• Bring any performance management issues to the attention of the Community Wellbeing Nurse Manager
• Support the development of quality assurance mechanisms in place for the program
• Handle sensitive/confidential material strictly in confidence in accordance with office policy, PHIPA, and the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Sit on relevant committees and working groups as required and represent the organization in a professional manner
• Provide assistance when required and any other duties assigned
