The Opportunity

We’re looking for a dependable and safety-focused Concrete Pump Operator to join our team in Thunder Bay. In this role, you’ll operate a concrete pump, assisting with delivering ready-mix to construction and industrial job sites across Northwestern Ontario. This position is well-suited to a professional DZ licensed driver who takes pride in their equipment, values clear communication with site crews, and understands the importance of timeliness, safety, and attention to detail. Your Day-to-Day

  • Perform mandatory pre- and post-vehicle inspections
  • Take direction and communicate verbally, working as a team player
  • Constantly monitor vehicle fitness and ever-changing conditions
  • Maintain accurate electronic hour of service logs and vehicle inspections
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards, operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
  • Physical work, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
  • Occasional travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including out-of-town assignments with overnight stays as required
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet project demands
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

You Are a Good Fit If You Have

Required:

  • Valid DZ class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork

Considered an Asset:

  • Prior concrete knowledge
  • 1 year of experience driving a concrete pump
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills & Abilities:

  • Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third-party testing requirements (drug and alcohol testing and a Criminal Background Check (CPIC), and any other requirements they impose on contractors)
  • Knowledgeable and respectful of the Highway Traffic Act and municipality bylaws.
    Familiar with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations
  • Ability to handle multiple on-the-go tasks and appropriately prioritize based on operational needs
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
  • Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Professional attitude and strong work ethic

*This position is governed by a collective agreement. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
