Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation is presently recruiting for a

GUNS & GANGS YOUTH INTERVENTION WORKER

(External Posting, Term Contract – Ending March 31, 2027)

Fort Hope, ON

The NALSC Guns and Gangs Youth Intervention Program aims to implement programs and services to provide alternative opportunities for expression of ones self; participation in culturally based activities; safe, positive, and motivational environments for open discussions; guidance towards a healthier way of life; and formation of secure connections within ones own community.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Post Secondary School, Social Work, Mental Health or other related study and/or work experience.
  • Willing to learn the various aspects of the legal system including Restorative Justice alternatives
  • Experience and knowledge of Indigenous issues and the current legal system.
  • Understands need for confidentiality
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills – working with Microsoft applications, email and internet
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently;
  • Access to reliable transportation;
  • Ability to speak the Ojibway language preferred

Location: Fort Hope, ON

Hours: Full Time – Term Contract (35 Hours Per Week)

Starting Salary: $50,140 Annually
