POSITION STATUS:
Ø We are seeking casual youth worker(s) to fill shifts on an as needed / call in basis at our Youth Justice Open Custody and Detention Facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø PREFERRED: Child and Youth Worker Diploma from an accredited College or University
Candidates with the following qualifications may also be considered where the person has significant related experience:
Ø H.B.S.W., B.S.W., B.A. Sociology or Psychology, Onajigawin Indigenous Services Diploma, Social Services Worker Diploma, Developmental Service Worker Diploma.
SKILLS:
Ø Applicants must have an awareness of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Ø Applicants must have a demonstrated ability in the following:
1. Above average verbal skills;
2. Ability to confront youth in a consistent and constructive manner;
3. Above average interpersonal skills;
4. Ability to control and stimulate groups of adolescents
Ø Possession of a valid Ontario Drivers License and current First Aid Certificate; Provide Police Check
Ø Applicants must be able to work shift work.
SALARY: As per Collective Agreement range from $29.64 to $35.98 per hour
