Job Summary:
As an Aide, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including assisting in meal preparation and service, maintaining kitchen and dining area cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:
• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
• The ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
• Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Aide.
• Experience in food service, hospitality or customer service would be an asset.
• Safe Food Handler Certification or capable of completing online certification upon date of hire.
• Must have the flexibility to work all shifts.
• Must be an independent and self-motivated worker
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve meals and snacks
• Ensure proper portion control.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, including the dining area chairs and tables.
• Daily temperature checks
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and kitchen inventory.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Team Leader / Senior.
• Ensure proper labelling and rotation of food items to prevent spoilage.
• Follow appropriate food handling procedures to avoid contamination.
• To be flexible in the job routine and be challenged by new requests and ongoing changes to the job as delegated by the Team Leader / Senior.
• Responsible for taking reasonable care to protect the health and safety of yourself and others, by practicing and promoting safe work habits by using personal protective equipment and reporting unsafe acts or conditions to your manager.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Team Leader / Senior.
• Provide courteous and friendly service to patients, residents, clients, and staff.
• Assist with meal delivery to client rooms or other designated areas as needed.
• Education component throughout the year, Health and Safety, policy and procedures, workshops, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
• It will involve exposure to heat, cold, and various kitchen equipment.
• It will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Considerable standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.
• Frequently required to lift up to 20 lbs.
