Finance Clerk

Fresh Market Foods is a growing retail business dedicated to delivering exceptional service and high-quality products to our valued customers. We are seeking a meticulous and dependable Finance Clerk to oversee cash operations and maintain precise financial records. Responsibilities:

• Accurately balance and settle tills, including self-checkout terminals, at the end of each shift to ensure proper accounting of all transactions.
• Verify and reconcile daily sales figures, including lottery, gift cards, and ATM reports, ensuring all transactions are properly accounted for.
• Maintain the safe and cash box, ensuring all funds are secured and accounted for.
• Organize and prepare daily bank deposits, ensuring all cash, cheques, and other forms of payment are properly documented and secured.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in cash or sales transactions in collaboration with the Customer Service Manager.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports related to cash operations for management review.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
• Assist in the accounts payable process by accurately entering invoices into the system and ensuring timely disbursement to vendors.
• Support accounts receivable functions by tracking, recording, and managing incoming payments.
• Perform a range of clerical tasks, including word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, and managing office communications through faxing and photocopying, with proficiency in Microsoft Office for data management and Dayforce for payroll.

Qualifications and Skills: 

• High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Clean Criminal Record
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to handle sensitive financial information with utmost confidentiality and security.
• Flexibility to work early in the mornings (starting at 7:30 AM) and potentially on Saturdays.

Wage/Salary: Starting at $21.00 – $23.00 per/hour (depending on experience)

Language of Work: English, French (an asset but not a requirement)

Transportation: Fresh Market Foods will cover a one-time round-trip travel cost for the successful candidate to our location and back to their permanent residence at the end of the work period. This does not include the cost for a full trailer move (household goods, trailers, or large personal belongings etc).
