About the Role
United Way Thunder Bay is seeking a dynamic and motivated Resource Development Coordinator to support our mission of improving lives and building community by mobilizing individual and collective action. This role supports relationship-building efforts with corporate and individual donors, volunteers, and community partners, contributing to United Way’s fundraising campaigns and community engagement activities.

The coordinator will work closely with the Campaign Director, CEO, and United Way staff and volunteers, including workplace representatives and campaign committee members. This role requires an organized, relationship-focused individual who enjoys supporting campaigns and working collaboratively with volunteers and partners. The Coordinator provides day-to-day support to the Campaign Director and CEO, helping ensure fundraising and engagement priorities move forward efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Generation

  • Support the implementation of annual resource development strategies, including acquiring, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and potential donors.
  • Support efforts to achieve financial and non-financial targets; track results and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support for direct mail campaigns and support the growth of United Way’s Leadership Giving Program.

Relationship Building and Engagement

  • Support relationship-building efforts with corporate partners, individual donors, volunteers, and staff to deepen understanding of United Way’s community impact.
  • Participate in United Way and community events to expand networks.
  • Support volunteer training, recognition, and engagement to ensure a positive and meaningful experience.

Communications

  • Support the delivery and communication of United Way’s mission, Community Impact Strategies, and signature programs to inspire engagement and action.
  • Uphold a positive image of United Way through enthusiasm, professionalism, and integrity.

Planning and Innovation

  • Provide input and implementation support for strategies supporting donors and volunteers, including communications, marketing, major gifts, and targeted giving.
  • Collaborate on events, special projects, and initiatives supporting organizational objectives.

Other

  • Participate in internal committees and undertake special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree or equivalent in a related field.
    2–3 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or consulting.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, and community members.
  • Strong communication skills, including delivering presentations to groups.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining donor relationships.
  • Proficiency in donor CRM systems and financial tracking/reporting software.
  • Ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee and volunteer population.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work environment with regular in-person meetings and community engagement required.
  • Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work.
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license for local travel.
  • Works in an office using Windows OS, MS Office, and CRM database.
