In-Home High School English Tutor-Mentor – Kenora
TutorBright is hiring part-time in-home Tutor-Mentors in Kenora to support high school students with English, academic skills, organization, study habits, and confidence.
At TutorBright, our tutors are also mentors. Tutor-Mentors work one-on-one with students to strengthen academic skills while helping them build confidence, independence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning.
Position Details
$32-$36 per hour
Approximately 3-10 hours per week
Part-time, flexible scheduling
Sessions are typically 1 hour and regularly scheduled
Sessions primarily take place after school, in the evenings, and on weekends
In-home tutoring with students in Kenora
What You’ll Support
Tutor-Mentors may support students with:
Grade 11-12 English
Essay and paragraph writing
Reading comprehension and written responses
Homework and assignments
Multi-step and open-ended academic tasks
Organization and time management
Study skills and academic routines
Motivation, focus, and academic confidence
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for Tutor-Mentors who are:
Confident supporting high school English and writing
Comfortable working one-on-one with teenagers
Warm, patient, encouraging, and relationship-focused
Able to make academic work feel more approachable and manageable
Reliable, organized, and able to provide consistent support
Strong communicators with good interpersonal skills
Able to travel independently to students’ homes in Kenora
Applicants who are currently enrolled in or have graduated from college or university are preferred.
Nice to Have
Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or youth-focused experience
Experience working with teenagers
Enrolment in or completion of a Bachelor of Education program
Experience supporting different learning styles or learning needs
Access to a reliable vehicle
