Position Summary
The Analyst – Physician Services is responsible for supporting Physician Services decision-making through research, analysis, and clear communication. This role involves drafting briefing notes and memos, assisting with data analysis, and contributing to the development of policies and processes. The Analyst also participates in SLRPSI and SLFNHA board meetings, providing insights and documenting key discussions to support strategic planning and effective program delivery.
Accountability
The Analyst – Physician Services is accountable to the Director – Physician Services.
Qualifications
•Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
•Post secondary degree in health policy, public administration, Indigenous governance or a combination of education/experience as deemed acceptable by SLFNHA
•Minimum one (1) year work experience in Health Information Management or a combination of education/experience as deemed acceptable by SLFNHA
•Ability to prepare and deliver high quality written reports and presentations for diverse audiences with the ability to express ideas clearly and that are culturally appropriate
•Experience in developing policies, governance procedures and guidelines
•Experience in a project management capacity is an asset
•Knowledge of the complex health service delivery landscape in northern Ontario and the inter-jurisdictional issues as they relate to the First Nations health
•Must have working knowledge of political, legislative and regulatory process impacting First Nations health and First Nations governance
•Demonstrated understanding of and competence in, serving culturally diverse populations knowledgeable of First Nations’ people, history, culture, health priorities and social issues
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Excellent computer skills
•Ability to work independently and part of a team
•Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
•Good working knowledge and experience in time management, excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently
• Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout region is an asset.
•Ability to perform the requirements of the role on a regular basis
Roles & Responsibilities
1.Prepare and coordinate correspondence, proposals, discussion papers, internal documents, and briefing notes for SLRPSI and SLFNHA Boards, committees, and working groups.
2.Liaise with First Nations, partner organizations, and service agencies in collaboration with the Director to support program planning and implementation.
3.Support the ongoing implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the SLRPSI Strategic Plan.
4.Review and evaluate existing policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement within Program Services.
5.Conduct research, synthesize findings, and provide evidence-informed advice and recommendations on best practices.
6.Identify and apply effective knowledge translation and transfer approaches tailored to targeted audiences, incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and culturally appropriate methods.
7.Collaborate with Finance and internal stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, and support the development of proposals and partnerships with external agencies.
8.Research, review, monitor, and analyze provincial and federal legislation, policies, initiatives, and operational plans impacting First Nations health and health services in the Sioux Lookout area.
9.Collect, develop, analyze, and disseminate qualitative and quantitative data to support program planning, policy development, and decision-making.
10.Collaborate with the Anishinaawbewaadiziwin Department to support the ongoing facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of the Anishinaabe Health Plan.
11.Participate in the development and coordination of advocacy strategies aligned with the SLRPSI Strategic Plan and Program Services annual work plans.
12.Attend and actively participate in SLRPSI committee, working group, and stakeholder meetings.
13.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
