CORE TECHNICIANS
ROLE PURPOSE
Fulfill a critical step in the exploration process by cutting drill core samples using an electric saw with care and precision, placing the samples in the proper container, maintaining your saw and workplace in good order, taking part in the labeling of the core boxes, and assisting with the movement of the boxes of core between the logging and cutting shacks and the storage racks.
KEY AREA: CORE CUTTING
DUTIES:
Cut sampled drill core using an electric saw in a responsible, diligent manner as per mine standards. Maintain your saw by changing blades when necessary, cleaning, lubricating, etc. on a regular basis. Place samples into the proper container with care and attention to detail.
KEY AREA: SAFETY
DUTIES:
Conduct daily work activities in a safe manner following company policy and procedures including strict adherence to the wearing of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats and a respirator. Take part in department safety meetings and offer new ideas relating to workplace safety. Maintain a clean workplace and adhere to the company’s housekeeping standards.
Required to help move drill core boxes weighing up to 70 lbs within and between the logging and cutting shacks and onto storage racks (physically demanding). Assist in building of core storage racks. Create and attach “Dymo” labels to the core boxes.
DUTIES
Demonstrate and maintain good housekeeping skills with equipment and entire work area.
Follow directions from Team Lead/Supervisor
Required to work both independently and as part of a team
Must assist with other duties when required (physically demanding)
Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
Report any occupational hazards to Crew Leader
Maintain “Daily Log Books”, where required
Follow all policies and procedures of O.C.D.C. and Orla Mining Musselwhite (where required)
Attend Safety Line Meetings
Attend Staff meetings and Training Courses as requested
THE INCUMBENT WILL DEMONSTRATE:

Starting Wage: $25.35/hr – OT paid time and half (1.5)
14 days in / 14 days out – 12 hour shift
