Wahsa Distance Education Centre is operated by the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council under the direction of District Area Chiefs and First Nation communities. Wahsa provides secondary education services to northern communities across the Sioux Lookout District by SMARTBoard/Bridget software and Independent Learning courses. Wahsa develops, delivers, and co-ordinates courses, training and support services in consultation with participating First Nations. Students receive instruction, instructional packages, tutoring, and academic and personal counseling through local and central support systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Special consideration given to candidates with Intermediate/Senior qualifications
Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
Experience teaching First Nation students an asset
Computer literacy
A sensitivity to and understanding of First Nations culture and traditions
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
POSITION:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Permanent/Full-time
SALARYÂ :Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Based on QECO rating (Years 0 to 11) as follows:
A1 – $54,280 – $89,063
A2 – $56,513 – $95,029
A3 – $60,967 – $102,973
A4 – $63,862 – $109,533
All staff are compensated 13 weeks of vacation either with                              vacation days,  monetary compensation or a combination of both
