Core Technician – Term Contract

Based at Goliath Gold Complex site near Dryden, ON, we currently have an exciting opportunity for one (1) Core Technician on a full-time temporary contract to join our NexGold team, reporting to the Director of Exploration, or designate.

The Core Technician will provide technical and logistical support within the Exploration team by processing and sampling/cutting diamond drill core, and performing other tasks as assigned to contribute to the team’s daily objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and move drill core, including performing Rock Quality Designation (RQD) and taking photographs;
• Inspect meterage blocks for errors, label, and palletize logged and sampled cores, and prepare sample bags for dispatch to the lab;
• Assist with core box handling and core sample delivery to the lab;
• Organize and store core samples according to company protocols, and manage pulps and rejects;
• Conduct pre-operation equipment inspections, perform light preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment, and report deficiencies or concerns to supervision;
• Maintain good house keeping;
• Support geological and environmental field-based activities including soil and/or rock sampling, prospecting, and mapping;
• Update and digitize daily activity logs tracking work performed; and
• Adhere to safe work practices by wearing and maintaining required PPE and following regulations and company policies and procedures.

• Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned.

What You Bring:

Required Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent education;
• Good literacy and numeracy skills;
• Sufficient computer skills to perform data entry and update reports and activity logs;
• Effective interpersonal skills to work in a team environment;
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision;
• Good written and oral communication skills;
• Willingness and ability to perform field work under varying weather and terrain conditions;
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks;
• High attention to detail and awareness of surroundings;
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying 35+ pounds regularly; and
• Valid Class G license or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in bush or exploration environments will be an asset;
• Experience operating an ATV will be an asset;
• Experience operating a forklift will be an asset; and
• Experience in a mining or industrial environment will be highly regarded.

Role Details:

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm CST

Wage Rate: $28.00-30.00 per hour dependent upon qualifications (2025 rate)
