Labourer (12 positions)
Contract: 6-12 Month Term (Strong Potential for Full-Time position or Apprenticeship)
Location: Drive to mine site camp
Industry: Underground Mining / Heavy Mobile Equipment
Salary: $25–35/hr Based on Experience — 11.5 hrs/day — 7/7 Day Shift Rotation

About the Role:

TMPS is seeking hardworking, safety-conscious Labourers to assist Heavy Equipment Mechanics with underground equipment repairs and shop operations.  This role is essential to free up the Mechanics so they can focus on working on Equipment and keep mining operations running smoothly and safely. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety minded, positive attitude, physically fit, and willing to learn mechanical skills in an underground environment. This is a 6–12-month contract with strong potential for full-time employment as a Laborer or a Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship.

Note: Graduates of Heavy Equipment Mechanics and those mechanically inclined would have a strong opportunity for an Apprenticeship sooner than the 6-month contract.

Safety Expectations:

  • Maintain a clean, and safe compliant work environment.
  • Work proactively to identify and address safety concerns for yourself and coworkers.
  • Report all safety issues to the supervisor promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash mining equipment and components as required.
  • Maintain the wash bay: keeping are clean and operational for safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas.
  • Pick up and transport parts, tools and materials to and from work areas, or from surface and underground using designated vehicles (std. manual shift transmission).
  • Replenish shop inventory (e.g., parts, oil).
  • Properly dispose of waste and recycling in designated areas.
  • Assist mechanics by retrieving tools and parts from tool crib, and performing general duties as assigned.
  • Perform manual labor such as lifting, carrying, and basic mechanical assembly or disassembly.
  • Operate standard manual shift vehicles and small equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety regulations, procedures, and company policies.

Required Qualifications / Technical Requirements:

  • Previous mining experience preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience in a trade environment is an asset.
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding, underground environment.
  • Strong awareness of safety standards and procedures.
  • Valid G-Class driver’s license (mine site tickets or certifications, and able to drive manual standard sift transmission vehicles are an asset).
  • Ability to work as part of a team, follow direction closely and work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in cross-cultural work environments is an asset.
  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Reliable and on time attendance is required.
  • Drug and Alcohol (D&A) testing and criminal record check required. Work site has a Zero tolerance policy for D&A and Harassment.
  • Ontario Mining Underground Common Core Certification (will be provided if required)

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.and performing repetitive physical tasks.
  • Comfortable working underground in varying conditions, including heat, humidity.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and handle heavy equipment tasks.

Assets:

  • Experience driving Manual Standard Transmission Vehicles.
  • Previous shop or yard experience is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in machinery.
  • Working with heavy-duty vehicles.

Contract Details:

  • 6 month contract, 11.5 hr / day
  • Strong potential for full time hire
  • Remote work

Accommodation details:

  • Workers will be provided with a room in the camp bunkhouses, when space is available.
  • If the bunkhouses are full, hotel accommodation will be provided as required.
  • All meals are provided by the camp, including a hot breakfast and supper, as well as food to pack your own lunches for the shift.
  • gym is also available at the camp site for employee use.

Transportation details:

  • bus transports workers between the camp and the mine site at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • When hotel accommodation is used, bus transportation is also provided between the hotel and the camp site.
