Situated along the Trans-Canada Highway between the neighbouring city centres of Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, the District of Kenora comprises several communities in Northwestern Ontario, offering an experience in nature like no other. With its main administrative office in Dryden and other office locations and ambulance bases across the District, the Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) is the integrated service delivery agency dedicated to improving everyday lives through early learning and care, housing, paramedic services, and social services.
We are currently seeking to hire an Accounting Clerk located in Dryden, Ontario, to join our Administration – Finance team. Our employees enjoy a healthy work environment, professional development, and the opportunity to make a difference in others’ lives.
Reporting to the Finance Supervisor – Payables, the Accounting Clerk provides support in the maintenance and processing of KDSB financial records.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Input and process financial transactions in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain finance related records and files.
- Download, review and distribute information from third-party software.
- Create and/or generate reports and respond to general inquiries for copies of supporting documents from staff, where appropriate.
- Support utilities management processes.
- Assist with month, quarter, and year-end processes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- High level of ability to use computers and other information technology, including specialized software and administrative systems.
- Knowledge of filing systems associated with accounting functions.
- Effective communication skills in assisting KDSB staff where appropriate.
- Ability to recognize problems associated with financial software programs and to assist in overcoming such problems by being able to follow instructions and guidance of appropriate persons.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated on-going commitment to the principles and practice of confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
- Completion of a post-secondary education program in Accounting, Office Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in extensive computer usage involving data entry and word processing in addition to computerized accounting programs.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
The starting hourly wage for this position is $29.42 in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
