Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA)

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is a paediatric health facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario providing occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, social work, behaviour support, and recreation services to children and youth with physical, communication and developmental needs.

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is seeking an OTA/PTA to work as part of our collaborative multi-disciplinary team.  Under the supervision of regulated occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff, the OTA/PTA carries out individual and group treatment plans, provides education to clients and caregivers, prepares resources, and communicates client progress.  Travel within the City of Thunder Bay and surrounding area may be required.

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

·       Graduate of an OTA/PTA Diploma or equivalent with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, paediatric rehabilitation principles and childhood development milestones

·       Understanding of the working relationship with regulated health professionals

·       Previous experience working with paediatric population

·       Proven ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary team

·       Ability to collaborate with service partners, families, caregivers and other stakeholders

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       Creative and flexible

·       Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle

The successful candidate will be required to submit a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities is considered an asset. Bilingualism English/French is considered an asset.
