Job Duties:

  • Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat, poultry, and fish according to company standards and customer specifications
  • Grind meats and slice cooked meats using powered grinders and slicing machines
  • Weigh, package, wrap, label, and price meat, poultry, and fish for retail sale
  • Maintain product displays by restocking and rotating meat and seafood items to ensure freshness and quality
  • Inspect meat and seafood products for quality and freshness, checking expiry dates and reporting any concerns to the manager
  • Ensure all products are stored properly following food safety and storage guidelines
  • Operate meat-cutting tools and equipment safely, such as band saws, grinders, and slicers
  • Follow daily production sheets to meet department needs and customer demand
  • Notify the manager when inventory is low or if equipment requires maintenance
  • Keep the work area clean, sanitized, and organized throughout the shift
  • Assist customers by answering questions and suggesting alternative products when needed
  • Comply with company procedures and all health and safety regulations

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a meat cutter, butcher, or in a similar food preparation role is preferred; knowledge of various meat, poultry, and seafood cuts, including proper cutting, deboning, and trimming techniques.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations, safe food handling practices, and proper hygiene standards; WHMIS and Safe Food Handling certification are strong assets.
  • Ability to safely operate meat processing equipment such as slicers, grinders, and band saws.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in cold environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-

Terms of Employment: Full-time Permanent, including weekends and holidays

Wage/Salary: $21.00 – $25.00 per/hour (depending on experience)
