Funeral Assistant

Reports to Funeral Director(s) and Owner
Waverley and Westfort locations
Duties include. but are not limited to:
- Maintaining fleet of vehicles – washing, polishing, fluids, tire pressures, etc
- Maintaining the facility – waste collection/removal, seasonal gardens, vacuuming, dusting, etc
- General knowledge of services offered
- Preparing visitation rooms/chapels, arranging floral displays, managing parking, setting up equipment, and acting as pallbearers
- Greeting families and guests
- Door person duties during services
- Ability to work within various religious venues, with direction
- Limited administrative paperwork and reporting functions are required
- Assisting with removals and transfers from homes, hospitals, long term care facilities, etc
Requirements
- Suitable language skills are necessary for this position
- Ability to work within a”team” setting, as well as individually motivated
- Strong empathy, compassion, professionalism, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Must be available to work regular hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm) with limited weekend/after hours work opportunities
- Class “G” license or opportunity to acquire license within 6 months
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds
