Position Overview:

The Communications Coordinator supports both external and internal communications with a strong focus on expanding and evolving digital engagement and enhanced storytelling across platforms. This role is responsible for managing the Dilico Anishinabek Family Care’s social media channels, updating and developing website content, designing program, service, and culturally grounded materials, and drafting internal communications that support staff engagement and organizational alignment.

Working closely with the broader communications and leadership teams, the Communications Coordinator produces high-quality multimedia content that reflects Dilico’s commitment to Anishinabek children, families, and communities. Through thoughtful storytelling and culturally respectful communications, this role helps elevate community voice, celebrate program impact, and strengthen public understanding of Dilico’s integrated service model across Northwestern Ontario and the Robinson-Superior Treaty area.

Beyond content creation, the Communications Coordinator contributes to communications planning and message development to ensure internal and external communications remain consistent, visually engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities. By providing dedicated strategic content support, this role enhances the organization’s reputation, supports leadership objectives, and advances Dilico’s mission through modern, responsive, and culturally grounded communications practices.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field required.
  • An individual who is of Anishinaabe ancestry with understanding of Anishinaabe history, culture, traditions, ceremonies and values are preferred.
  • Must have a minimum two years’ experience in the field of communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • Experience in social service, education or health field. Preferably related work with children, family and communities involving the development and implementation of healthy community programming.
  • Experience in working with Anishinabek children, families and communities.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must complete an adequate criminal record check.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as required, including to Robinson-Superior communities and other locations as needed.

Hours of Work: 35 weekly
