WLLP is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior management team.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides leadership, oversight, and management of the financial affairs of WLLP. The CFO is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, reporting and control, ensuring sound fiscal management and alignment with corporate objectives.
As a key member of the senior management team, the CFO plays a vital role in guiding financial strategy, building capacity within the finance team, and contributing to WLLP’s ongoing growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage financial activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, special projects accounting, financial planning, cash management and reporting;
- Oversee all month-end activities, preparing accurate and timely reports for the CEO and the Board of Directors.
- Manage treasury functions, ensuring effective planning, organizing and control of funds.
- Manager general ledger functions, journal entries, reconciliations and financial data accuracy.
- Lead and oversee annual budgets and audit processes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and financial regulations.
- Provide financial signing authority for WLLP.
Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to strengthen organizational capacity.
- Build financial literacy and management capacity of departmental directors and managers.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Build strong working relationships with leadership, staff, and external partners.
Strategic Support
- Provide expert financial advice to CEO and Board on matters including borrowing, investments, contracts, and agreements.
- Support other corporation-owned enterprises as required.
- Track and report on performance against financial, operational, and quality targets.
- Prepare forecasts and recommendations for financial planning and growth.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in business or accounting or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive financial management experience at a senior management level.
- Demonstrated experience in working with First Nation communities or their organizations.
- Proficiency with Adagio Accounting ERP software.
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and practices.
- Demonstrated leadership and team supervision skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Valid Driver’s License, Access to a reliable vehicle and Drivers Abstract; and
- Clear Police Record Check (CPIC).
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based role.
- Remote or hybrid work may be acceptable; however monthly travel to the WLLPffice located in Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg First Nation is required.
